Mapping metadata – a high-level approach to early modern island discourses

The mapping of metadata is a valuable approach to analysing historical discourses from a bird’s eye view. As publication metadata mainly includes places of publication and information on authors, translators, publishers and printers, they are a rich source for the reconstruction of communication networks and the dissemination of ideas.

Visualizations of historical spatial data as tools of exploration and education

During the Human-Computer Interaction International Conference of 2022 (HCII2022), I delivered the paper “Visualizations of Historical Spatial Data as Tools of Exploration and Education” which has now been published in the Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. The paper includes several simple maps created by MA students for the DigiKAR geo-humanities project.
